Insook
Hwang was born and raised in South Korea.
She
earned an M.E. (major in Art Education) at Seoul National Universtiy in
1994 in Korea and
an M.F.A. (major in Painting, minor in
Sculpture) degree at City College of New York in 1999 in United States.
She’s
had nine solo exhibitions in both Korea
and the U.S., and
participated
in two major International Contemporary Arts Exhibitions (Busan
Biennale 2002 in
Korea, Officina Asia
2004 in
Italy).
She has exhibited her work at Artspace in New Haven
where she has lived since moving back to the U.S.
from Korea
in 2006. As an
adjunct professor, she teaches a Mixed media class at Albertus
Magnus College and Educational Center for the Arts in New Haven. She is a
recipient of a 2010 Artist Fellowship Grant from Connecticut Commission
on
Culture & Tourism.
